ORTHODONTICS / BRACES / PEDIATRIC DENTISTRY

Children need a particularly high level of care so that they can confide in us and allow the necessary treatments. The first visits to the dentist should be as free of fear, stress, and pain as possible for your child. We do everything we can to ensure that your child feels comfortable with us.

Our practice includes all classic and modern treatment methods of today’s orthodontics. The human being as a whole plays a major role in holistic orthodontics. This is of particular benefit to our patients. Less pain, shorter sessions, the odd tooth extraction less, and whole-body asymmetries are treated at the same time.

Braces

Braces are dental appliances for correcting misaligned teeth and jaws. It has proven to be useful to correct the first misalignments of the milk teeth as early as the age of 6 as part of early treatment in order to avoid malformation of the jaw. Removable active plates and functional orthodontic devices influence the growth of the jaw and stabilize the jaw when the permanent teeth erupt. The fine adjustment and elimination of crowding in the permanent set of teeth are usually done with fixed appliances (brackets). In the end, the treatment result is stabilized using retention devices.

The adjustment, insertion and, if necessary, readjustment of the brace is carried out by LifeDent specialists in orthodontics.

Which type of braces is the right one?

Which type of braces is right for you depends, on the one hand, on the type of misalignment. Depending on whether there is a malalignment of the bite, whether crowded teeth exist or the teeth are displaced or not at all. The age of the patient and aesthetic aspects also play a role and should not be disregarded when choosing the type of braces. Since there is growth in primary and mixed dentition, loose braces are more likely to be used in children and adolescents. Adults tend to have fixed braces.

Different types of braces to correct misalignments

There are loose, removable braces for growing children and adolescents. They influence the growth of the jaw and thus serve to regulate it. The second type of braces are fixed appliances, the brackets of which are fixed to the teeth with a special adhesive. These braces are used to correct teeth. The teeth are moved in the desired direction with the help of biomechanical wires.

The invisible braces: Aligner / Invisalign

In order to meet the highest aesthetic demands, there are both loose and fixed braces in inconspicuous and also completely invisible variants.

Aligner therapy is an orthodontic treatment method for the largely invisible treatment of minor tooth misalignments that works with a sequence of individually manufactured, thin, and transparent plastic splints. These removable splints (aligners) are almost invisible on the teeth and are less of a hindrance in everyday life. So you can take them out while brushing your teeth and eating. The Invisalign braces also make speaking less difficult than other braces.
