PERIODONTICS - BACTERIAL INFECTION
Periodontitis (periodontal disease) called in technical jargon is a bacterial infection. The starting point for periodontitis is a dental plaque: metabolic products of the bacteria irritate the gums, which become inflamed and begin to bleed when touched. Tartar and bacteria can spread under the gumline and on the root surface. Gum pockets form and tartar increases. The gums become reddened, swollen, painful and regressed. The body’s defenses fight the bacteria. However, the jawbones and retaining fibers also shrink. The tooth begins to wobble and in the worst case scenario can fail.
Bleeding gums, tooth loosening and tooth loss do not have to be.
Professional teeth cleaning by our well-trained dental hygienists can help in most cases.
If, on the other hand, you suffer from a more severe form of periodontitis, which is often hidden at the beginning, you need meticulous diagnostics, perfect tartar removal, bacterial analysis and microsurgical operation techniques to heal the disease and preserve your teeth. Untreated periodontitis is now considered a risk factor for heart attack and diabetes increases the postoperative risk of infection and is responsible for an increased risk of premature birth.
